Year 2009 saw arguably the most stylish hatch back from Hyundai, the i20. And this time it was one of the most expensive too. But the looks killed all other factors to make it another success story for Hyundai. Though quite heavy on pocket, Hyundai managed to sell the i20 in large numbers. Three years later Hyundai has come up with the first facelift of i20 and I got my hands on the diesel sports variant.

Volvo S60 D3

Volvo Cars has armed its S60 with a new D3 diesel engine. If the new diesel engine has hiked the price of the car, there’s another surprise in store. The Volvo S60 D3 costs less. So, if the S60 looked affordable, it is now even more affordable. Going beyond, the Volvo S60 builds on a long standing legacy for safety. In other words, safety and Volvo cars are inseparable. Volvo cars may not be absolute head turners, they are however termed as ‘the safest’. Ones that offer good value too. A look at the S60, and it looks anything but drab, and mundane. Sporting a price tag that has it (the S60 Kinetic D3 costs Rs24 lakhs) positioned uncomfortably close to the likes of Skoda Superb, the S60, a CBU import, appears aggressive and young.

HONDA DIO

If it’s a scooter it has to be a Honda; this is how Honda scooters have literally ruled the Indian roads for about a decade now. With just one 100cc engine, Honda managed to create quite a variety with Activa and Dio. Few years back, the Acitva underwent some modifications and just when Dio was looking dated, Honda came up with an upgraded Dio. And it might attract quite a few Honda fans awaiting in the list to avail an Activa.

SUZUKI SWISH

Suzuki has given good quality products to Indian automobile market and Access has been one of the most under rated scooters. Though a promising and tough scooter, Access never gained the numbers that Activa showed off. Honda had a gamut of scooters to play with and Suzuki could boast just one scooter; Access and to get one, you needed to wait for more than two months. Like most of the competitors, Suzuki too has shown street smartness to introduce a facelift variant of Access christened as Swish!
